Reduced Filtration and MRO Spend                Back_To_Top

Amazon Filters Ltd is one of Europe's leading filtration equipment manufacturers. We provide an extensive range of pleated, depth and bag filters for liquids, gases and air. We also design and manufacturer the widest selection of filter vessels available on the market and can design bespoke housings to meet your particular requirements

The biggest item on the agenda now for most sites is 'cost per kilo' to manufacture a drug. Process filters are now being included as significant cost.

Most of the sites historically used to have a large box of filters in production and leave the operators use whatever they liked. Also, the established filtration suppliers after many years of supply have been able to command premium pricing. The large Blue chip companies have put an end to that practice and we have helped them by using our proven filtration change methodology which overcomes validation hurdles with the minimum amount of risk.

Apart from the circa 30% cost saving there are lot of other benefits. Some of these
clients who have moved to Amazon Filters now gear their process filter allocation and procurement according to their process trains. The big benefit here is that you can
scan the filter usage against any one campaign and see your costs immediately. Also if you are not starting a campaign until 6 months from now you can park your purchase until then.
Eliminating these inefficiencies are just as important as the 30% annual ongoing savings which can be achieved. Please speak to ESI on how we can help you make substantial savings on your filtration spend.

Pleated Filters                                                        Back_To_Top

Amazon Filters provides pleated cartridges using a range of different media types including polypropylene, glass fibre and nylon mesh with absolute removal ratings ranging from 0.3 – 400 µm. Filters can be supplied in standard format or as large diameter, high flow versions. Pleated cartridge filters are constructed with a large surface area of thin filter media, pleated to fit into a relatively small assembly. This results in a filter that offers high flow rates and low pressure losses.

SupaPore Halar

pfSupaPoreTPGCutout

SupaPore Halar filters are constructed using Halar ECTFE media . Halar ECTFE is a fluoropolymer offering a unique combination of mechanical, thermal and chemical resistance and these filters are specifically designed to offer excellent compatibility and effective removal of particulates from solvents and solvent based liquids. They also provide high flow rates, low pressure drops and long life.

SupaPore Halar filters are constructed using Halar fluoropolymer media offering a unique combination of mechanical properties and thermal and chemical resistance. These filters are specifically designed to offer excellent compatibility and effective removal of particulates from solvents, solvent based liquids and ozonated water.

SupaPore Halar filters offer greater compatibility than polypropylene media filters at a cost that is typically lower than PTFE membrane cartridges. The advanced pleated meltblown media used in these filters provides both high flow rates and long life. They are also available with nylon 6 cage, core and end-caps to widen the range of applications SupaPore Halar filters can be used in.

Industries and Applications

The availability of high purity, particulate free solvents is also important to many industries including manufacturers of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API), fine chemicals and micro-electronics products. Typical applications include:

• API / Fine Chemical manufacturing

          – Removal of fine particulates from product streams

          – Clarification of chemicals used for product synthesis

          – Filtration of solvents used for purification of crystallised compounds

 </>

• Microelectronics industry

          – Particle removal from chemicals and solvents used for microchip production

• Water treatment

The use of ozone to control bioburden in purified water systems is increasing and ozonated water can damage standard polypropylene cartridges. SupaPore Halar cartridges are excellent for this application, exhibiting enhanced compatibility for water dosed with ozone. They are also used as vent filters to protect water tanks from particulate contamination.

Compatibility*1

SupaPore Halar filters offer improved compatibility with a wide range of chemicals and solvents including:

• Acetone • DMF • Hydrochloric Acid • Ozonated water
• Acetonitrile • DMSO • Methanol • Sodium Hydroxide
• Acetic acid (100%) • Ethyl acetate • MIBK • THF
• Diethyl Ether • Ethanol • MTBE • Toluene
• DMAC • Hexane • n Heptane • Xylene

(*1 Chemical compatibility of filters can be affected by so many process factors (e.g. temperature, exposure time etc). Filters should be pre-tested under users own process conditions using appropriate safety practices in order to confirm compatibility.)

Amazon Filters manufactures a comprehensive range of PED and ATEX compliant filter housings for use with SupaPore Halar cartridges. This range includes the industrial 50 and 60 Series housings and the hygienic 70 Series. We are also able to offer the ClearView housing containing a ‘window’ to allow on-line visual monitoring of the process. Please consult our Sales Office for further details on the full range.

Membrane Filters                                                        Back_To_Top

We are able to offer absolute rated pleated membrane filters with either hydrophilic polyethersulphone (PES) or hydrophobic PTFE media. Typically SupaPore VP PES filters (rated 0.03 – 1 µm) are used for aqueous solutions and SupaPore TP PTFE filters (rated 0.1 – 3 µm) are used for air, gas and solvents. These are supported with comprehensive technical documentation.

Membrane cartridge filters are usually constructed with a large surface area of thin polymeric filter media, pleated to fit into a relatively small assembly. This results in a filter that offers high flow rates and low pressure losses. Typically these filters are used in critical applications in the Beverage, Fine Chemicals, Micro Electronics and Pharmaceutical industries.

Depth Filters                                                        Back_To_Top

Amazon Filters are recognized as leaders in the field of meltblown depth filter cartridge technology. Our leading edge research has resulted in the manufacture of filters where the diameters of the blown fibres are controlled to produce different pore sizes throughout the production process. This enables the retention of contaminants throughout the depth of the media. All the layers are inter-linked to offer maximum support while ensuring that the high void volume is maintained. The fibre density is increased towards the inside of the media giving true progressive retention and therefore long filter life.

depthfilter1

SupaSpun II precision graded density filter elements are a further development of our already well proven absolute rated depth type filter. These high performance cartridges excel in dirt holding capacity and give extremely low clean pressure losses as a result of the strictly controlled manufacturing of the fibre matrix. They are a possible replacement for Pall Profile II filters.

SupaSpun II filter cartridges are produced using an improved manufacturing process resulting in the following features:

dfSupaGardCutOut• Absolute Rated Filter Media

• Available from 0.3 to 180µm

• Polypropylene or nylon 6

• Consistent reliable performance

Unique Construction

• One piece high strength support core

• High void volume, resulting in low clean Dp and excellent dirt holding capacity

• End cap welded direct to the core for extra security and strength

• Thermally bonded fibre matrix minimises fibre migration

• One piece construction up to 1524mm (60”)

• SupaSpun II Advantage grade featuring moulded end caps and rigid outer support cage

SupaSpun II fibres are blown continuously onto a central support core, with fibre diameters controlled to produce different pore sizes throughout the extrusion process. All the layers are inter-linked to offer maximum support while ensuring that the high void volume is maintained, but with increasing fibre density towards the cartridge central core - therefore resulting in true depth filtration.

Elements are available up to 1524mm (60”) in length, either double open ended or with most common end cap fittings.

Features and Benefits

• Absolute removal ratings for consistent and reliable performance

• Graded density structure for maximum dirt holding capacity
